My family was almost hit
by a van traveling at high speeds and either didn't see us
beside them or wanted to get into the exit lane so they didn't
miss the exit and just came right over into our lane causing
us to swerve. I hit my head on the window because of the sharp
reaction. I thought the van hit us but praise God it didn't.
We all were truly shaken and new God had saved us. The people
downstairs were trying to get us, but the people upstairs
protected us. God must have more planned for us.
The events of the last couple of months have given us a new
sense of the battle between "the people upstairs and
downstairs" and the "activity" God has for
us to do while on earth. We should be more aware of our mortality
and that each day is a gift from God. The release of the missionaires
is a great example of this battle for souls and praise God
He set them free.
The question that remains is, now that we realize we have
been given more time, what should we do?
In the parable of the ten virgins (Matthew 25:1-13) Jesus
told a story about some bridesmaids who were waiting for the
arrival of the bridegroom and what they did while they waited
for him. The foolish ones got complacent waiting for the groom
to come. They thought they had all the time in the world to
get ready so they fell asleep. The wise ones got ready for
the groom in the time they were given; they made sure they
were ready for his return. When the groom came, the foolish
bridesmaids ran around frantically trying in vain to get ready.
By the time they were ready, the party was in progress and
the door to the banquet was shut.
We all have a certain amount of time left here on earth and
we can spend that time sleeping or getting ready for eternity.
When the time comes, whether it be through sickness or terrorists
or a fatal crash, it will be final and there will be no more
time to get ready. The door to heaven will be shut. You will
not receive a second chance.
What are you doing while you wait? Are you ready to meet
God? If you are not ready, ask God to make you ready. If you
need help in asking God, ask a friend who knows God. Give
them a call, use your email or even leave a voice mail. Do
whatever it takes to learn how to be ready to meet Jesus Christ.
So that when the time comes, you will know without a doubt
that you will enter the eternal banquet in heaven! Do it now,
"because you do not know the day or the hour."
