| As I awoke this morning,
ready for my run, two things occurred to me: (1) God can do
anything, and (2) God definitely has a sense of humor. Why
this revelation? Well, this is the view from my office window
today. Granted, I live in the Northwest, at relatively high
elevation, but hey, it's going to be summer in about a week,
and we're not supposed to have 6 inches of snow on the ground!
I guess I'll just have to add this one to the list of questions
to ask Him when I get there, huh?
This wacky snow storm illustrates for me several things about
God, aside from the sense of humor thing. Not only is God
in total control of everything on Earth, but He also has the
power to do anything, and change anything at any time. What's
so interesting about the snow here in the Northwest is that
we have been facing one of the most serious droughts in recent
history, and many feared that we wouldn't make it through
the summer without water rationing or worse. I think it is
extremely cool that God not only delivers must needed moisture,
but he does it in style!
God also chooses to teach us in many ways...during the writing
of this devotional, we lost power for several hours, which
can be quite frustrating for a webmaster and web developer
(turns out that power is kind of important for computers...who
knew?). I found myself being stressed by this predicament,
and also annoyed. Fortunately, I had someone very close to
me remind me that sometimes God tells us to enjoy his gifts
as they come, especially when they are rare. It further illustrated
the point that God is truly in control, and He has a plan
not only for our lives, but for our days, hours, and minutes.
Thank you to that special person who helped remind me of this
fact.
So, when you are pondering the latest crisis in your world,
remember that God is in control, and can do anything. He can
deliver what you need, when you need it, and he knows what
that is, even before you ask it. How cool is that?
