Respect does not exists
to the degree that it once had 50, 25, or even 10 years ago.
How about respect in your life? You probably "honor your
father and mother," a lot of the time, but what about
other adults? God calls us to respect them just as much. Teachers,
Pastors, adults in the church and in public, friends of your
parents...all of these people. Especially people who are your
leaders. The amount of respect you give to all of these people
represents the amount of respect you really have for your
parents, and most of all, God. If you have this respect for
God, you will show it to all people, because that's what He
asked, and that's what your parents ask. You parents don't
just want you to respect them, they want you to respect all
adults. That's what God wants as well. This respect also needs
to be shown to your friends and peers, and yes, maybe even
to those upper classmen, so long as they aren't abusing you.
You should strive to have a high level of respect for all.
