So you might be thinking,
"why this verse?" Well, for starters it comes right
after Deuteronomy which is found towards the beginning of
the Bible. Joshua was a brilliant military leader who had
a strong spiritual influence on his people because of the
submission to God…(you may have heard of him because
he "fit the battle of Jericho and the walls came 'a tumblin'
down.") Anyway, whenever God spoke to Joshua, Joshua
listened and followed His word. Joshua realized that prosperity
didn't come from things like power, money, etc.; he realized
that in order to be successful, he had to follow God's words
instead of the world's.
So how does this apply to you?? Well, many of you may have
just recently gotten back from an awesome summer camp experience
ready to live your lives for God, but may be finding it harder
because you're no longer in the encouraging environment of
camp. GOOD!! That would be too easy and God doesn't want that…
He wants us to go to our schools and live for HIM by having
the guts to say "no" to that party, or that bad
movie, or whatever else could be negative. It may be hard
at first, and its' supposed to be, but God will get you through
it, HE promises you! Joshua give us the key to success right
here. Stay active and involved in the word regularly (try
on a daily basis) and be bold and courageous with the strength
of our God. And remember, you've always got youth leaders
and friends for support.
