When you are around little
kids much, you learn the phrase "over-stimulated".
This phrase is used to indicate when the child has received
more incoming stuff than they can handle in a given amount
of time. If you take a look around, it doesn't take much time
to realize that this is not just something that happens with
children. Today's world, with all the distractions, technology,
stresses, etc. is in a constant state of over-stimulation.
When kids are over-stimulated, they get cranky, have trouble
falling asleep, and cry a lot. Does that sound like anyone
(or several anyones) you know? Spend some time on a busy street
in New York City, you'll know what I'm talking about. I'm
pretty sure that all of this stimulation isn't what God had
in mind when he talked about being still and waiting for him.
Take a look at your life...what things are over-stimulating
you? Can you take time to just be still and quiet?
